■高額ながらイギリスで人気の「プラダケータイ」

　ファッションブランドケータイとしてはすでに日本国内でも、07年４月にＮＴＴドコモ向けのモトローラ製「M702iS DOLCE＆GABBANA」が発売されている。今年に入っては、ソフトバンクモバイルが、ティファニーとのコラボレーションモデルを1000万円を超える価格で販売すると発表した。

　世界市場では、サムスン電子が「GIORGIO ARMANI」モデルを投入済みだ。現在、サムスン電子は日本国内でソフトバンクモバイルに端末を供給中だが、「今のところＧＳＭ版しかないので、すぐに製品化して国内投入することはない」（ソフトバンクモバイル関係者）という。

　実際、サムスン電子も、現在は「920SC」「821SC」といった日本国内のユーザー需要にあわせた端末を優先的に投入しているため、すぐに「GIORGIO ARMANI」モデルといった個性的な端末を出すのは難しそうだ。

　そんななか、日本投入が目前と言われているのが、ＬＧ電子が開発、製造する「PRADAケータイ」だ。

　「PRADAケータイ」は07年２月にイギリスやフランス、ドイツ、イタリアといったヨーロッパ地域で販売が開始され、その後、香港、台湾、韓国といったアジア地域に進出を果たしている。価格は発売当初、10万円近くした高額商品であるが、イギリスではすでに40万台を売り上げるなど、人気モデルとなっている。
